Albion suffer defeat to spirited Abbey Rangers
By Rob Hopkins
An off day for Albion as they are the wrong end of a 10 goal game.
After a great performance last week to Woking & Weybridge, Albion faced Abbey Rangers at home, a team that we have faced several times over the last few years.
Albion got off to a great start, finding themselves 1 goal up within the first 5 minutes courtesy of a Gilles header from a corner taken by Adrian.
The lead was short lived after a through ball behind the back line played in an Abbey striker who levelled the scoring.
Abbey went ahead after capitalising on another ball that found its way through the Albion back line before they doubled their lead from a poor back pass just before half time.
The second half started slowly with neither side creating many chances. As the half grew, it was Abbey who continued the scoring and Albion found themselves 6-1 down with about 20 minutes to play.
Goals from Hammond and Pankhurst put on a little bit of pressure, however it was too little too late and Abbey finished the game scoring a seventh goal from 35 yards with the last kick of the game.
A game to forget for Albion after such a promising performance last week. Next up we travel to league leaders, JB Rangers.
